I have been toying with the idea of doing my grocery shopping online for a while now. So today, I thought, why not? I had registered with Foodtown Home Shopping some time ago but never took it further.

It is a great idea having your groceries delivered, right to your front door (especially for first-time mums and dads). Most would agree, that the first three months are the toughest – where you are adjusting to your new life as a parent, trying to cope with the lack of sleep, work and the usual household chores etc. Having one less thing to worry about is great. It can also save time and alot of hassle, if you are a working parent with very young children.

Anyway, I created my shopping list online and was very pleased that I had managed to cull quite a few non-essential items (that I would have usually bought, if I were at the supermarket). But abandoned the process when I saw the delivery fee. My grocery bill came up to $88.91. The delivery fee was $14.95. In total, it would have cost me, $103.86. That was a little bit more than I was expecting (the delivery fee, that is).

Please note, that the delivery fee does drop, if you spend more -

Up to $99.99 – $14.95
$100.00 to $199.99 - $12.95
$200.00 to $249.99 - $10.95
$250.00 and over - $7.95

I don’t know about you? But I kinda like my trips to the supermarket. It’s just nice to get out, with or without bubs. Plus, with the extra $14.95, I could get the goodies that was culled during the online shopping process
