Baby food has been a topic of discussion at a number of my coffee group meet-ups. So I thought, I would do a little series on Foods Ideas for Babies, that I have prepared for my son.

We seem to be bombarded with do’s and don’ts when it comes to feeding our child – from the process of preparing food to how our they consumes it. Then, there is the guilt of buying off the shelf vs home-made. It’s a nightmare!

It’s actually not that complicated.

Fotunately, the Solids Class, offered by Plunket was very useful (for me anyway). Although, some ladies from the coffee group would disagree.

I started my son on solids when he was about 6 months. I pretty much followed Plunket’s recommended time with regards to feeding and what type of foods for infants. And for me, this worked out very well. Plus, I also found some good books and websites with information on feeding and baby food recipes.

The book that I found really useful is called Cooking for a Baby, by Sylvia Hull. This was given to me by my mother-in-law. I think it was published in the 1970′s. Some of the recipes in the blog posts to follow have been modified (I’ve had to swap some ingredients depending on availability). The recipes are easy to prepare and economical.

Check out our Baby Food Recipes category or just click on this link – http://www.4mums.co.nz/category/baby-food-recipes/

Hope you enjoy them and we would love to hear from you, with your recipes and ideas.
